Sturgeon Spearing 2004'

Yesterday, February 14th sturgeon spearing opened with a catch of 1,303. They
were way over the limit set for females so the season ended at 12:30 today.
Also on Sat., a record that stood for more than a half century was broken
when David Piechowski of Redgranite speared a 188-pound styrgeon, 791/2
inches long. The previous record was a 180-pound sturgeon speared in 1953.
